This past weekend, several SBS choir students traveled to Bay City High School to participate in the intial phase of auditioning for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All State Small School Choir. Of the SBS students who auditioned, all seven advanced to the next stage, pre-area auditions.
During the audition process, students prepared four separate choir pieces and showed mastery through sight reading.
“This year, the competition was really intense, so I felt the weight of the auditions more,” said Caroline Bolling ‘21. “I think for me the extra competition drove me to work harder and, eventually, helped me make it through district.” She went on to say, “Making it through to the next round meant a lot to me because singing is one of my favorite things to do, and being able to compete is amazing! I cannot wait to try out for the next round and represent my family, my school and Jesus through my performance!”
The following students will perform in the All-Region Choir and move to the next round of pre-area auditions:
Caroline Bolling ‘21
JC Davis ‘19
Eliza Dixon ‘21
Scott Holcomb ‘19
Anna Lea Kimmel ‘20
Olivia Little ‘19
Grace Lunsford ‘22
Join us in congratulating these accomplished musicians and praying for their next steps toward TMEA All State Choir!
