The Class of 2019 recently returned from Round Top, Texas, where they spent two days bonding and preparing for their exciting final year at SBS.
“Senior Retreat was such a sweet time for the senior class to get away and reset before their final year begins,” stated Student Life Coordinator Grace Rummel. “They heard from Ms. Simonton about all of the decisions they will make over the next year and how to be faithful while making those decisions. It was awesome to witness memories being made that will last a lifetime!”
Publicity Prefect Payton Kim ’19 said about her time in Round Top,“I think for a lot of us, Senior Retreat was the first time we were all together as seniors and realized the reality that we are in our last year of high school. We definitely bonded over both looking forward to this year and looking back at the years we have spent with each other.”
Seniors shared special moments of reflection and prayer led by their class prefects and cherished moments of bonding through hammocking, down time and stargazing.
A highlight and long-standing tradition is when Ms. Simonton gives each senior a stone to represent their Ebenezer, a tangible reminder of God’s power and protection as illustrated in 1 Samuel 7.
Student Life Prefect Shelby Clark ‘19 reflected on her time at Senior Retreat: “Being able to spend time with all of my classmates and getting to bond with them was one of my favorite high school experiences.” She continued, “Closing the first night with worship alongside my classmates was really special and is one of the reasons I’m really grateful to go to Second Baptist School. Senior Retreat is a memory I will cherish forever.”
