Jesus Freak!

Following the story of a non-believer, the audience watches a life transform as a girl who did not personally know Jesus eventually becomes a self-proclaimed Jesus Freak! After encountering many followers of Christ who share their personal testimonies through song, the “baby Jesus Freak” prays and asks Christ to come into her heart. The program is a staple at Second Baptist School for all that it teaches fourth grade students, as well as the impact it has on everyone watching.

Head of Lower School Evette Haberman talked about Jesus Freak, saying, “In fourth grade, Jesus Freak pulls together all that they have learned in their Bible curriculum throughout lower school.”

Lower school Bible teacher Diana Bolling helped direct Jesus Freak and explained about the program, “Jesus Freak was born out of necessity. 16 years ago, the Bible curriculum changed and SBS saw a need for a new program that would reflect what fourth grade students learn in the classroom. The vision was groovy, cool, colorful and fun, but most importantly it was inspired by what Romans 10 calls beautiful feet - gospel sharing feet.”

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

Romans 10: 13-15

Jesus Freak gives fourth graders an opportunity to share the gospel with classmates, families and friends. It gives our students the tools needed to go out and share the gospel with others. SBS is proud to have fourth graders who put on their gospel shoes daily!
