Choir begins in middle school as an elective course that allows students the opportunity to experience vocal music.
Vision Choir is a large ensemble made up of an astounding one-third of the upper school student body. Second Baptist School hosts various concerts throughout the year and students are given the opportunity to participate in contests, events and local and state competitions through TPSME, Texas Private School Music Educators, and TMEA, Texas Music Educators Association. Additionally, SBS Choir is invited to travel internationally to perform during Interim Term.
The Second Baptist School instrumental music department develops the musicianship of the individual student. Instrumental music opportunities for students include a general music class offered in fifth grade, Beginner Band for sixth grade students (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, percussion), Intermediate Band for seventh grade students with 1-2 years of previous experience and Eagle Band for eighth through twelfth grade students with at least 3 years of previous experience.
