Commencement 2018

It’s the day seniors look forward to all year and won’t soon forget. The day to celebrate all their hard work, reflect on the past and receive a charge for the future. It’s the end of the school year and there is only one thing left to do: graduate.
Commencement speeches began with Salutatorian Garrett Logan and Valedictorian Arian Tabibian. Garrett spoke about the importance of environment, and more specifically, how environment shapes character. He spoke about the environment of SBS and how the Class of 2018 has helped to shape himself and others. Arian’s speech provided an insightful look back at his memories of upper school, stating, “All my life, I was ready to leave so soon, chasing the destination, not realizing it was the journey I was truly looking for all along.”
Following the students, Dr. Don Davis paid tribute to the Class of 2018 with an extensive look at all they have accomplished. He challenged them to continue being strong and courageous and to never forget God’s presence in each of their lives. We are extremely proud of our graduating seniors and look forward to all that God will do in their lives!
Perhaps the most heartwarming moment of the ceremony was following commencement speaker Dr. Ed Young’s powerful address, as he presented a diploma and a warm hug to his own granddaughter, Rachel Young, as she walked the stage.
Congratulations to the seniors of the Class of 2018!
