Technology: DIRECTOR OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

Second Baptist School is currently seeking a full-time DIRECTOR OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY.

JOB SUMMARY. 
Second Baptist School seeks a talented, experienced and visionary director of educational technology to lead the technology department with new initiatives and the school’s expansion to multiple campuses. The director of educational technology is a new position and will play a pivotal role in furthering the mission of Second Baptist School by promoting the school’s core values and portrait of a graduate distinctives. He/she must understand the technology needs of the entire school and the individual needs of all stakeholders. The director of educational technology will serve on the school’s administrative team, work collaboratively with school and church staff, and serve under the supervision of the school’s director of finance and operations. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES.  
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following: 
  • Develop and maintain strategic and operational plans for technology that support the goals of the various divisions and departments.
  • Lead the technology team ensuring that systems, processes and methodologies are in place and follow the school’s guidelines.
  • Oversee the project management of multiple initiatives involving technology transitions.
  • Actively participate in and help execute technology components of the school’s strategic plan.
  • Maintain a commitment to promoting technology integration into the educational experience.
  • Drive standardized technology solutions for the school while accounting for the uniqueness of each school area and campus.
  • Oversee essential functions of technology operations, including help desk activity and support.
  • Establish written technology policies, procedures and processes in areas such as end-user support, data management, network security, content filtering and hardware deployment.
  • Develop a strategy for continuous development of technical skills for faculty, staff, students and parents.
  • Advocate for department needs or concerns.
  • Network with other schools, community groups, professional organizations, and associations. 
  • Mentor students in leadership training with engaging and relevant technology-related opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, candidates must: 
  • Have significant experience as an educational technology and/or information services leader, including areas such as project and personnel management, technology integration, instructional design, end-user training and support and multi-site management.

  • Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills to provide clear guidance, instruction or information.
  • Use technology with confidence and ease.
  • Possess understanding of technology software, applications, processes, techniques and equipment and how they’re used in educational environments.
  • Exhibit strong working knowledge and user experience of Google Workspace (i.e. Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.) and Apple products (as SBS is an Apple 1:1 Distinguished School). Experience with Blackbaud, Mosyle, Finalsite or JAMF School is considered a plus.
  • Be a responsible steward of the school’s resources and support the school’s fundraising efforts as able.
CANDIDATE SUMMARY. 
We seek the following in qualified candidates: 
  • A strong Christian testimony and calling to serve as a positive Christian role model to students.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; a master’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Prior experience in education; experience in Christian education preferred. 
  • Visionary leadership in tune with the needs of a dynamic faculty and student population.
