Creating a Family On and Off the Court
Second Baptist School's basketball program is rooted in tradition tailoring individual and team coaching. The philosophy of the basketball program is based on the premise that each team member believes that collective success is more important than individual glory. The men’s basketball team is driven by five core principles: humility, passion, unity, servanthood and thankfulness. The SBS basketball program is about living out the gospel, fostering a basketball family culture that is Christ-centered and being intentional to observe and develop leadership qualities in all coaches and players. Basketball is available to male and female athletes in grades 7-12.

Coaches
Coach Mouton has served as the varsity basketball coach at Second Baptist School since 2011. He has numerous wins and accolades under his belt, the most recent being 2018 TAPPS Coach of the Year and leading the Eagles to win the 2018 TAPPS State Championship. Prior to coaching at SBS, Coach Mouton coached at eight different universities including Oregon State University, Rice University and Butler University. As an athlete, Mouton played basketball at the University of Oregon where he won Most Inspirational and the Coaches Award. Passionate about his faith, Coach Mouton instills strong Christian values into his players and the basketball teams at SBS.
