Our Schools of Distinction inspire upper school students to integrate academic excellence with real-world applications. Through an immersive biblical worldview, these programs prepare students to think critically, live biblically and lead courageously to impact the world for Jesus Christ.

School of Business

The School of Business prepares students for leadership through hands-on experiences in entrepreneurship, finance and business communication. Capstone projects integrate key concepts, and classes are held in advanced spaces, including a finance lab with real-time stock tickers and an entrepreneurship classroom with a podcast studio.

Jill Foote, CFA, PhD

Dean of the Schools of Distinction and Faculty
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

Professor Jill Foote spent 19 years teaching Rice University MBA students how to manage real money investment funds in stocks and bonds and serving as Director of the Rice Business Finance Center before joining SBS in 2023. Prior to Rice, Dr. Foote worked 13 years at Goldman Sachs in New York. She has a B.A. from Rice University (Magna Cum Laude), a M.A. from NYU and a PhD from Fordham, all in economics.

Scott Dawley

Adjunct Faculty
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

Mr. Scott Dawley has been an entrepreneurial executive for 20 years including founding and serving as Executive Director of Speedgolf USA, President of International Speedgolf Alliance, and Chief Experience Officer at Q Golf. He is also a professional athlete and visionary sports pioneer, growing the future Olympic sport of Speedgolf. In 2021, Mr. Dawley set a new Speedgolf World Record (107:15 strokes + minutes), which still stands today.

Brad Lane

Dean of Students and Faculty

Mr. Brad Lane has been in education for over 20 years at three schools and includes 17 years of classroom teaching and over 20 years coaching football and track. He has a Master of Education in Administration from the University of Houston and has been at Second Baptist for 18 years. In addition to serving as Dean of Students, he strives to tie Biblical understanding into students’ daily lives as our Ethics & Leadership teacher.

School of Sciences

The School of Medicine offers an immersive introduction to medical careers, equipping students to improve lives and health outcomes with excellence and faith. Students engage deeply with anatomy, disease treatment and health innovation using the Anatomage Table, the world’s leading human anatomy platform.

Salvatore Parrino, PhD

Faculty
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

Dr. Salvatore “Sal” Parrino joined the SBS faculty in 2024 after teaching high school science in New York for 8 years. He has a PhD in Molecular Cellular Biology from SUNY Stony Brook University, where he operated at the interface between research science and medicine, with a focus on Pathology, Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis.

Dr. Robert Wegner, MD

Dr. Robert Wegner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he has received numerous teaching awards. Dr. Wegner received his bachelor's degree from Baylor University and his Doctor of Medicine from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.

The School of Energy will foster creativity and innovation through our Maker Space, where students explore design and engineering using 3D printers, a laser cutter, and advanced tools. This hands-on program will inspire problem-solving and prepare students for careers in engineering, technology, and energy-related fields, all within a Christ-centered learning environment.

School of Law

The School of Law will provide students with experiential legal learning and practical applications simulating a real-world environment. Through mock trials, debates and legal research, students will develop critical thinking and advocacy skills. The curriculum will also integrate ethical considerations and public speaking, preparing students for careers in law within a faith-based context.
