New Children's Education Building
"I am so thankful for everyone who has had a part in fulfilling the dream of a new Children's Education Building. I look forward with excitement and anticipation to seeing how God will use it to impact our children for generations to come."
Rita Herring
Head of Lower School
The Second Baptist Church and School community are excited to announce the fall 2023 opening of the new Children’s Education Building. The four-story structure is between Woodway Village and A Building, next to the Worship Center, and will provide 117,000 square feet of educational space for both the church and school. Every square inch of the new building is designed to foster a love of learning and a motivation to excel with implementation of the very best in security and technology, 4,500 square feet of outdoor play space, breakout rooms for special instruction, better interaction between grade levels and even whimsical slides between floors. These elements will underscore Second Baptist School’s passion for student development and academic excellence in a Christ-centered environment.
The new building will house pre-kindergarten 3 through grade 4 classrooms and provide expanded opportunities to effectively reach students and families to deliver quality Christian education on our campus. This exceptional space will enable church and school to accomplish their shared goals of teaching children and equipping them to influence their world for Jesus Christ.
The Children’s Education Building at Second Baptist is a space characterized by quality and functionality, will create a warm and welcoming environment, and whose purpose is consistent with the mission of Second Baptist School: to equip students to think critically, live biblically and lead courageously.
With lower school classrooms positioned in one location, teachers will have time and space for professional collaboration while providing excellence in instruction. Specific attention has been devoted to creating age-appropriate spaces that focus on children, foster learning excellence and facilitate spiritual development.
