Welcome, Bartholomew Family!

Welcome, Bartholomew Family!

Second Baptist School is honored to welcome the Bartholomew family to our community for the 2024-2025 school year. In search of a school that prioritizes a faith-based education, Amy and Jeremy Bartholomew found that SBS quickly stood out as the perfect partner in the care, education and leadership for their daughters Janie ‘31 and Amelia ‘35. “There was really no parallel in Houston to the SBS mission, vision and values.”

A School that Stands Apart - Blending Faith with Education
From their first experience as a part of the SBS community at Convocation, the Bartholomews felt affirmed in their decision to join SBS. “Seeing the faculty encircle the students in prayer stood out as a very moving and wonderful picture of what sets SBS apart.” For the Bartholomew family, finding a school that “reinforced both education and biblical worldview” while “equipping the next generation of Christian leaders” was a top priority, and witnessing this scene displayed to them Second Baptist School’s commitment to do just that. This theme continued throughout the semester when the Bartholomews witnessed their youngest daughter, Amelia ‘35, recite Luke 2 at the Lower School Christmas Chapel. “What a wonderful way that Second Baptist is instilling Biblical truth into our little ones’ hearts and minds from such a young age!”

A Caring Community - Faculty Who Make a Difference
Beyond the foundation of faith interwoven into the curriculum at SBS, the Bartholomews have been deeply encouraged by the SBS faculty and community. A distinguishing factor of SBS is the dedication of its teachers, who invest deeply in their students’ academic and spiritual growth. The Bartholomews have witnessed this first-hand in their second grade daughter’s Bible teacher, Mrs. Allison Tidmore. “Our daughter comes home so excited about what she’s learning in Bible class,” they shared, “the way she can articulate Biblical truths speaks volumes about Mrs. Tidmore’s passion and dedication.”

Encouraging Each Child’s Unique Gifts
Second Baptist School believes that God has uniquely gifted each child with their own unique strengths. This foundational truth shapes the experience of each student who attends Second Baptist, and the Bartholomews have found this to be true in their short time attending the school. Since joining SBS, the Bartholomews have seen a “noticeable difference in their daughters’ maturity, confidence and Biblical understanding.” They share, “God has gifted children with their own interests, talents and temperaments–SBS seeks to uncover, encourage, and cultivate those gifts,” continuing, “that may sound simple, but it's a critical lens to understand education. One Body, many parts.”

Growing and Walking in Truth
This year’s theme, Walk in Truth, inspired by Psalm 86:11, has resonated deeply with the Bartholomews. “We pray that our children are growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ each day and that this knowledge would lead them to walk in truth.”

As they continue their journey at SBS, the Bartholomews are grateful for a school that not only educates but also nurtures, challenges and equips students to become strong, faithful leaders.
