Teacher Feature | Mrs. Warrick

For second-grade teacher Mrs. Kate Warrick, teaching is more than just a job but a calling. “As I teach, I have learned that I have to be marinated and equipped through His word,” she shares.  “From there, I can teach these precious kiddos God has entrusted me with. I have learned to create margin for that in my day, so my students can have my best as I am being filled.”

Mrs. Warrick's classroom is an exciting combination of learning and imagination. She engages with her students in creative and impactful ways through unique chants and sayings. One unique addition to her class is the "2D Adventure Book," where each students take home a storybook to write about their adventures. This sparks storytelling and community in her classroom.

But what makes her classroom truly special is its foundation: a Christ-centered perspective taught in every lesson. “Jesus is at the center and the focal point,” she explains. “When that happens, we experience the richness and fullness of HIM.”

This Friday, her class took the stage for the annual Second Grade Parade of Presidents program. This program allows students to shine as they memorize speeches, recite presidential facts, and sing songs that tell the story of our country's history. “I have loved seeing my students and our  whole second grade grow in confidence,” Mrs. Warrick says. “It is fun to see them come alive as they recite their speeches and sing presidential songs.”

As the students took the stage, their hard work was on full display. Mrs. Warrick emphasizes that this program isn’t just about the performance but the lessons learned along the way. “We say often, that ‘Excellence is in the details’,” she says. “This program portrays that. As we practice hours each day, we see them refine and work on what we are coaching them on.”

Through her dedication, Mrs. Warrick continues to inspire her students to embrace faith, creativity, and excellence in all they do. She ensures each of her students feels supported and ready to shine brightly, reflecting God’s light to all.
