Teacher Feature | Mr. Gamas
This week, the Christmas joy is in full force, from the Festival of Christmas to the Jingle Bell Classic soccer game. Coach Kevin Gamas plays a big role in our community this week, from teaching middle school art and technology to coaching soccer and volleyball.
For Coach Gamas, joining the Second Baptist family was a decision rooted in love for the community. “The love that Second has for people is amazing,” he shares. “I love being part of a community where there is always a place for me and my family.”
In the classroom, Coach Gamas teaches middle school art and technology. His passion for teaching goes beyond the classroom, as he also coaches varsity women's soccer, middle school girls' soccer and freshman volleyball. Whether in his classroom or on the field, his goal is to inspire his students and athletes to live for an audience of One. “The biggest lesson I hope to teach my students and athletes is that giving your best should be the standard way of living - in the classroom, on the field, but more importantly with your faith.”
As Christmas approaches, Coach Gamas integrates the season’s spirit into his art classes. Students create Christmas cards to spread joy and love to their loved ones.
One of Coach Gamas’ favorite traditions is the Jingle Bell Classic, an event that combines Christmas and soccer. “Mixing my two favorite things in the world, soccer and Christmas is the greatest thing ever! I feel very confident in the amazing team we have. Our girls are extremely talented players and work so well together.”
Coach Gamas’ enthusiasm for his work and his students shines through in everything he does. Whether he is encouraging creativity in the classroom or leading his teams on the field or the court, he embodies the heart and mission of Second Baptist School.
