Spreading Christmas Cheer at SBS!

Spreading Christmas Cheer at SBS!

Christmas in November? That’s crazy! But that’s just what Second Baptist School did with their production of Elf Jr. This year’s seventh and eighth-grade musical brought tinsel and snow to the campus and got everyone in the holiday spirit a bit early. Mac Goolsby ‘29 as Buddy the Elf was the best way to spread Christmas cheer, and he brought many laughs to the audience. “It was fun to do it with all my friends and make people smile. It’s always fun to see the show come together. And I like taking naps after every rehearsal,” says Mac.

But not all the credit goes to the people onstage. There were also many people working behind the scenes to make sure the show ran as smoothly as possible. Anthony Jin ‘29 helped to make sure that the sound for all the songs was flawless and on cue. From working the lights to operating the smoke machine, the behind-scenes crew really brought the show to life.

“The best part of Elf Jr. is when all the moving pieces, even for a single moment, connect to create a great show,” says Findley Caballero ‘29, who played Walter in the show. All of the set pieces, the people who worked on the set and the people who acted were essential to the success of the play. Though it took many hours of rehearsal over several months, the final outcome was definitely worth it, and we’re sure that you will be singing “Sparkle-jolly-twinkle-jingly” all year long.
