See You at the Pole

See You at the Pole

On the fourth Wednesday of September, the Second Baptist School community gathered for the annual See You At The Pole event. A global day of prayer, See You At The Pole unites students worldwide as they pray for fellow students, teachers, families and their country.

As the sunrise stretched over SBS on September 23, students, parents, faculty and staff congregated near the flagpoles for a morning of worship led by SBS students Cami Boutwell ‘29, Noah Salazar ‘27 and SBC worship leader Brett Russell.

Following worship, Ministry Prefect Carson Pratt ‘27 opened the morning in prayer and welcomed SBC Pastor Kyle Parrish. Focusing on Matthew 6:34, Parrish spoke about trusting God and surrendering our worries to Him because “each day has enough trouble of its own.”

With the fall semester in full swing, it can be easy to get lost in preparing for the next big test, game or event and forget to live in the present. As Matthew 6:34 challenges us, we should avoid worrying about tomorrow, “for tomorrow will worry about itself.” Instead, we can give our troubles to God, trusting that He will provide all that we need for the day at hand.

As the year marches on, See You At The Pole invites students to pause and remember that our faith in Christ is the foundation upon which everything else is built. John 15:5 reminds us that apart from Jesus, we can do nothing. What a gift it is to spend a morning in prayer as a community and remember that our hope and strength are found in Christ alone.
