Second Baptist School Wins TAPPS 5A Henderson Cup

Second Baptist School has been named the TAPPS 5A Henderson Cup winner for the 2025-2026 school year, earning the highest point total in its classification in the state. It is the fifth time in school history that SBS has won the award and the first time in 20 years.

The Henderson Cup is awarded annually by the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools to the school that accumulates the most points across all competitive activities during the school year, including athletics, arts and academic competition. A school cannot win by excelling in one area. It has to perform at a high level across all of them.

SBS also earned TAPPS plaques as the 5A Overall Champion in Fine Arts and Overall Champion in Boys Athletics, making 2025-2026 a remarkable year across multiple areas of school life.

"This is what we believe God has called us to: pursuing excellence in all things for His glory," said Head of School John Card. "Our students are called to bring their best to everything they do, whether on a stage, a field or in a classroom, because they are representing something far greater than themselves. I couldn't be prouder of our Eagles."

SBS previously won the Henderson Cup in 1998-1999, 2000-2001, 2004-2005 and 2005-2006
