SBS Expands Christian Education
In 1946, Second Baptist School was established with the purpose of providing a place of biblical instruction and learning where students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 could grow academically, spiritually, physically and socially. As SBS embarks on their 75th anniversary, they are expanding their offerings of Christian education with Second Baptist School University-Model.
Beginning fall 2021, Second Baptist Church North and Cypress campuses will be home to Second Baptist School University-Model. The North campus in Kingwood and the Cypress campus at Grand Parkway and 290 will host grades PK - 12.
Second Baptist School University-Model is founded on the core values of Christian education that is academically excellent within a caring community. The new campuses will be distinctively classical and packaged within a university-model. This unique design educates students two to three days a week on campus. The remaining days are satellite learning at home. Second Baptist School University-Model will make Christian education accessible to more families throughout Houston.
Dr. Ed Young announced this expansion of Christian education in November 2020, as the world of education was disrupted by the pandemic. Second Baptist School Head of School Dr. Don Davis will continue to lead SBS Woodway while overseeing the school expansion at the Cypress and Kingwood campuses. SBS has partnered with Pam and Beau Dollins to launch Second Baptist School University-Model. Beau is a 1998 graduate of SBS and he and Pam are 20-year church members. They are founders of Paratus Classical Academy, an established university-model school in Houston.
Second Baptist School University-Model is currently enrolling for their inaugural 2021-2022 school year and is hosting informational sessions throughout the spring and summer. Visit sbsum.org for more information.
