SBS College Day: A Reputation for Excellence

SBS College Day: A Reputation for Excellence

Second Baptist School’s College Day welcomed college representatives from around the world as students engaged in conversations, built connections and explored future possibilities. SBS College Day has a reputation for excellence among universities, and, with over 100 schools in attendance, this year’s event was no exception.

As Director of College Guidance Magan Borden shared, “College Day gives our students something a brochure or website can't. They get to talk with representatives who know each campus best, ask their own questions and have meaningful conversations that help them discover whether a college is the right fit. It makes the process more exciting and engaging, and it helps our students grow in confidence as they step into the plans God has in store for their future.”

Before serving as Director of College Guidance, Magan attended SBS College Day for several years as a college representative and is familiar with our students’ reputation among these universities. Magan emphasizes that “Colleges know [SBS] students are prepared academically, socially, professionally and spiritually. Many representatives make SBS their number one priority school visit of the day, and that speaks volumes. They want our students on their campuses because they know we're developing leaders who will make their institutions even better.”

This large-scale event wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of our student leaders. “Our Prefects and Fellows helped in so many ways, both leading up to College Day and on the day itself” shares Magan. “They set up the gym, assembled goodie bags, greeted representatives at check-in, walked them to their stations and ran errands across campus, all while making our guests feel truly welcome. They also prayed over our representatives before the fair and over the meal afterward. Our student leaders rose to the occasion, and we couldn't be more proud.”

Each year, College Day challenges students to explore new opportunities and discover their potential. At Second Baptist School, we equip our students to pursue excellence in all that God calls them to do, and as our students look toward the future, we are eager to see how they will use their talents and passions to impact the world for Jesus Christ.
