Parade of Presidents Program

Parade of Presidents Program

During their time in second grade, students at SBS learn about the history and legacies of great Americans that have come before them – the U.S. Presidents and First Ladies. This unit is tied into the second grade program, a favorite and longtime tradition at SBS, the Parade of Presidents. Each student studies and portrays an American President or First Lady and shares fun anecdotes, quotes and little-known facts about them. The second grade team put a lot of effort into the program this year and the results were impressive – and adorable.

“The Parade of Presidents is one of my favorite traditions in lower school,” said second grade teacher, Alison Tidmore ‘91. “The students learn so much about our presidents, our country's history and patriotism. This program is an amazing process to go through - watching it develop is awesome!”

The songs the second graders sing are reflective of the rich history and tradition of American Presidents such as Presidents Song and Blessed is the Nation. Each fun fact and anecdote shared was evidence of the hard work students put into their studies.

“When the students put on their costumes right before the program begins, something magical happens,” said Tidmore. “Their confidence grows even more and the pride in their hard work is evident in their smiles. They truly make me proud to be an American!”

Second Baptist School is proud of our second grade students and hopes that there may have even been a few future presidents in the program!
