One Day 2023
One Day provides an opportunity within the busy school year to recenter the spiritual focus of eighth through twelfth grade students. One Day unites local Christian schools, The Woodlands Christian Academy, Second Baptist School and Second Baptist School University-Model campuses, to increase our Christian community and live out the promise of Matthew 18:20: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am with them.”
Sam Kelly, a pastor at Fellowship Church in Dallas, shared how true success is found in following God, not what the world defines as success like money, or popularity.
Kelly posed the question from Mark 8:36, which says, “For what does it benefit someone to gain the whole world and yet lose his life?” This question causes true self-reflection, illustrating that you can not find success in anything on earth. So what is true success? Success is Jesus. True success is to know Him, to exude His character, and to tell others about Him.
Head of School Dr. Don Davis shared, “One Day 2023 was indeed an incredible experience. Imagine the Worship Center filled with students with different perspectives and backgrounds, all coming together to hear the inspiring and challenging words of speaker Sam Kelly. Our hearts rejoice for the 22 students who walked forward during the One Day invitation, including 13 from The Woodlands Christian Academy. Ten of the 22 accepted Christ for the very first time. To God be the glory!”
