National Honor Society Induction Ceremony 2026

The National Honor Society (NHS) Induction Ceremony honors students who display excellence in the pillars of scholarship, leadership, service and character. Last week, members of the Second Baptist School community gathered to celebrate the achievements of these select students as they were welcomed into the Florence Weaver Chapter of the National Honor Society.

Head of Upper School Ryan Berens opened the ceremony by congratulating the inductees on their academic achievement and their commitment to excellence. Berens reflected on Florence Weaver’s impact on SBS, honoring her devotion to Christian education and her enduring heart for service.

Assistant Head of Upper School Brent Harrison outlined the expectations of NHS membership, recognizing students who maintain a 3.5 GPA and consistently demonstrate leadership, service and character. Prefects Ethan Chan, Mady Schmidt, Mac Northrup and Christopher Torn elaborated on each NHS pillar, then spoke to each pillar, emphasizing that NHS membership represents both academic distinction and a responsibility to lead and serve others.

While the ceremony celebrated academic achievements, it also reminded students to steward the gifts and talents God has given them in service to others and for the advancement of His Kingdom.
