Hello, Dolly! Tech Week

Hello, Dolly! Tech Week

It's tech week at Second Baptist School! For the students in the theatre department, that means a hectic week tightening their show to perfection in preparation for their opening performance Friday night. This year, the SBS theatre department's upper school musical production is Hello, Dolly!

All students involved in the show's production, whether cast or crew, have spent the majority of their week at Houston Baptist University in the Dunham Theater, where the show will open Friday night, February 25, at 7 p.m. tech week is long and tiresome, but the results are always worth it.

However, tech week isn't just hard work. It’s about making memories. Junior Emily Bolling said "tech week is when the cast bonds and makes memories that will be cherished, not just for the rest of high school but for the rest of our lives." Her sentiments are matched by fellow cast member and senior Abby Herndon, who believes "the gratification of seeing the show finally come together through the set, lighting and music is unmatched, especially with the talented group we have this year for our show."

Tech week isn't just endless runs of the show, the students are also treated to meals, and students say this is where a lot of the comradery occurs. Samuel Ireland ‘23 declared, "Mealtime is a good break for everyone, especially since we all are working so hard to perfect the show for opening night. Mealtime allows us to laugh with each other and remember all the fun times we have had putting the show together over the past couple of months.”

The SBS Theatre Company would like to encourage everyone to see the production of Hello, Dolly!
