Golden Girls at the TAPPS Championship
This past weekend, the SBS Golden Girls dance team competed in the TAPPS Spirit of Dance State Championship. The team finished second out of 13 teams in their division. In addition to their team title, three Golden Girls made the all-state team: Caroline Carlyle ‘20 (third team), Claire Bolling ‘19 (second team) and Lauryn Edwards ‘21 (first team).
According to Captain Claire Bolling ‘19, “I am so proud of the hard work and dedication that this team has put in this year. Golden Girls has exceeded my expectations in both achievements and sisterhood. I could not ask for a greater team.”
Before awards and at the conclusion of the competition, dancers were given the opportunity to compete in individual turn, leap and kick competitions. Amongst the hundreds of dancers, Caroline Carlyle ‘20, Lauryn Edwards ‘21, Moriah Feng ‘20 and Caroline Bolling ‘21 all made it through several rounds of the competition. Caroline Bolling walked away in the top six and made “Kick Company.”
According to Coach Madelyn Wilson, “This team really pushed themselves. Our dances were challenging and required extensive practice, attention to detail and skillful technique. Each team member rose to the occasion and blew me away.” She went on to say, “My favorite part is watching our athletes interact with other teams. These girls made it their mission to share their love of Christ with each girl they encountered, and I believe they did just that.”
Congratulations, Golden Girls!
