From Middle to Upper School: Celebrating the Class of 2030

The Second Baptist School community gathered to celebrate the Class of 2030 as they advance from middle to upper school. The spiritual maturity and dedication to excellence that this class embodies were evident throughout the ceremony as they shared self-written devotionals and received awards for their academic and personal achievements.

Charge to Students:

Jason Daniels ‘17, SBS alum and Harvard Law graduate, opened his charge to students by sharing the impact that Second Baptist School has had on his life. From attending his own Eighth Grade Promotion ceremony to making lifelong friendships and even meeting his future wife, Jason emphasized the many ways that SBS shaped who he is today. As these students move beyond middle school, Jason challenged them to seek God’s will daily through His Word, to choose their friends wisely and to live differently and lead by example as they enter high school.

Student Devotionals:

Mia Lurie spoke about the peace and strength she finds in the Lord during times of difficulty or uncertainty.

Ella Reynolds read Psalm 16:11 and encouraged her classmates to develop a habit of seeking joy in difficult moments.

Nathan Reiner challenged his classmates to remember Ephesians 4:14-26 as they step into high school and accept the call of maturity.

Betsy Asby reminded her classmates to have the courage to choose kindness and compassion in a world that is quick to tear others down.

Kate Bonine spoke on Philippians 4:6-7, urging her peers to transform their worries and anxious thoughts into prayers.

Everitt Eixmann reflected on our calling to remain steadfast in our faith even when we encounter failure.

Natalie Nix emphasized that our hope is not dependent on our own actions, but on what Jesus has done in our lives.

Tatum Kinder challenged her classmates to remain faithful and trust the Lord even with the small things.

Colt Bell encouraged his peers to persevere, knowing that their faith would grow stronger through the challenges they faced.

Awards:

At the conclusion of the ceremony, students received their promotion certificates, and three students received the following awards:

Mary Emma Allen received the 2026 Youth Scholarship DAR Award.

Gemma Lane & Everitt Eimann received the Karen Jensen Scholar Award.

Congratulations to the Class of 2030!
