Flight Night 2019
On Friday afternoon, a high energy all-school pep rally kicked off Flight Night 2019! The entire SBS community filled the E Gym to cheer for our students, teachers, cheerleaders, Golden Girls, swim teams, soccer teams and basketball teams. In a hard fought game of basketball knockout between teachers and students, the students proved victorious.
Flight Night basketball started early at 4 p.m. with the JV men’s and women’s games. Meanwhile, dinner and face painting were underway in the newly renovated Fellowship Hall. At the same time, future Golden Girls prepped in Woodway Village for their Flight Night performance.
All of the SBS basketball teams played hard. The varsity women beat Westbury Christian 64-11.
The varsity men lost in the final moments of a nail-biter to Westbury Christian 66-60. According to varsity women’s basketball Coach John Herndon, “What has impressed me so much about this group is that they are ready to learn each day. They apply what they learn until it becomes habit.”
In addition to watching great ball, fans were entertained throughout the evening by cheerleaders, Golden Girl clinic participants, Golden Girls and SBMSA basketball stars.
Herndon also said of his team, “Our key component is that we ‘F.L.I.’ every day. We have FUN, we LEARN and we IMPROVE. This team genuinely cares for each other; we pull for one another; and we challenge each other every day. We execute our system of play and prepare for every situation we might face every day at practice.”
Congratulations to all of our SBS teams celebrated during Flight Night!
