EXTREME Spirit

EXTREME Spirit

Giant blue and gold SBS balloon structures loomed cheerfully in the entryway of Woodway Village, as middle schoolers celebrated Extreme Eagle week, a yearly tradition that celebrates unity, community and the spirit of SBS. Each day, a different fall sports team was celebrated at morning drop-off, building the excitement all week long.

On Thursday, students and teachers alike went all out, dressing to the nines with blow-up costumes and homemade blue and gold accessories. The team of fifth grade teachers dressed as bees for Be the Difference while the team of seventh grade teachers dressed like they were seventy-five years old, as a celebration of our 75th anniversary. Student or teacher - everyone was all in!

Parading into the E Gym for the Extreme Eagle pep rally, students were greeted by enthusiastic parents. We can’t recount this event without thanking our fabulous parent volunteers, led by Nancy Scales, who took the energy to the next level and even participated in blue and gold dress.

Dean of Students Cecil Shorts served as the MC for the pep rally, pumping up the already lively crowd. Fall sports teams were congratulated on a slew of recent wins, games of crab soccer and musical chairs made everyone laugh while middle school Spirit performed cheers and dances throughout the pep rally. Finally, participating in a long-time SBS tradition, sixth grade won the class yell.

Middle School Student Life Coordinator Kim Marshall shared about the purpose of the week. Extreme Eagle week is about celebration - our students, faculty and staff rally together to showcase their school spirit. In middle school, it is especially important to find opportunities where one can demonstrate encouragement and support for others - Extreme Eagle does just that and we are proud of our students for participating and cheering each other on.

Congrats to our most EXTREME best dressed winners!
