Extreme Eagle 2024: Extreme Spirit Takes Over Middle School

Extreme energy, extreme fun, and extreme school spirit—the SBS middle school’s Extreme Eagle Pep Rally delivered all of this and more! The week-long celebration of blue and gold pride hit its high point at Thursday’s pep rally, where the E Gym was filled with booming cheers, creative costumes, and a contagious sense of unity that could only come from our incredible students and teachers.

Middle school teachers Caroline Patterson '08 and Hampton Harmon took the mic as MCs, hyping up the crowd and keeping the excitement going from start to finish. Students cheered on their fall sports teams, with our cross country, eighth grade volleyball, and eighth grade football teams taking the spotlight to celebrate their impressive season records.

Middle School Counselor Janet Harrison said, “Extreme Eagle is more than just fun and games—it’s an opportunity for us to come together as a middle school community, build camaraderie, and strengthen the unity that defines our school family. Our students love the opportunity to dress up in blue and gold and to end the day with an extreme, energy-filled, exciting middle school pep rally.”

And dress up, they did! From inflatable costumes to homemade SBS gear, the creativity was next-level. Best Dressed winners stepped it up this year, with Ella Engelbrecht and Luke Knope representing the Class of 2032, Alice Kate and Gibson Allison owning the Class of 2031, Gemma Lane, Sam Engelbrecht and Hiatt Olmstead ruling the Class of 2030, and Sadie Blazei and Noah Rushing taking the crown for the Class of 2029.

The Spirit team turned up the energy even more with two outstanding routines that had the entire gym buzzing with excitement. Then came the always fun musical chairs competition—seventh grader Wesley Rancher took home the win for the students. Mrs. Ince '00 clinched victory for the faculty despite some hilarious (and sneaky) antics from Mr. Wilkinson.

To wrap it all up, the class yells echoed through the gym, and this year, the fifth graders took home the victory, showing everyone that even the youngest middle school Eagles know how to bring the loudest school spirit.
Extreme Eagle is more than just a pep rally—it’s a time to celebrate the heart and soul of the SBS middle school. It brings our students and faculty together in a big, bold, blue-and-gold way.

Until next year, GO EAGLES!!
