Dreaming Big and Trusting God’s Plan
“There’s one thing that we know is true: we want to be just like you!” The final chant from future “Moms,” Birdie ‘36 and Emerson '36, touched the hearts of parents and grandparents attending the first grade Dream Big program. As students portrayed a wide range of professions—athletes, astronauts, doctors and designers—they expressed their dreams for the future, all with the understanding that God has a plan for their lives. Parents, grandparents and peers gathered to witness this joyful event, which celebrated creativity, faith and ambition while honoring the continuous love and support families show every day.
With bright smiles and enthusiasm, they demonstrated the diversity of dreams possible when they place their trust in God’s plan. Singing I Am A Promise and God Has A Plan For Me, students embraced the truth that no matter what they aspire to be or where they go, the greatest goal is to “be like Jesus, so that others will see Jesus in us.”
The Dream Big performance warmed the hearts of parents and grandparents and reflected the passion of Second Baptist School “to bring every student into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ while equipping them to do with excellence that which God has called them to do.” First grade teacher Mrs. Henderson, who played an integral role in this year’s Dream Big performance, echoed this sentiment: “Helping students dream big is about encouraging them to see themselves the way God sees them—capable of doing things for His kingdom.”
