Bible Teacher of the Year - Loren Hopf ‘03

Bible Teacher of the Year - Loren Hopf ‘03

“We appreciate the tremendous impact of middle school Bible teacher Loren Hopf ‘03, and others are taking notice as well!” praised Head of School Dr. Don Davis.

In a rigorous nationwide search with over 200 nominees, Loren Hopf was selected as the Herzog Foundation’s Bible Teacher of the Year!

“Christian teachers and administrators are truly changing the world and we want to give them the recognition they deserve. Each year, the Herzog Foundation recognizes individuals that embody excellence in Christian education” as part of their mission to grow and advance Christian education across the country.

Head of Middle School Ellen Barrett shared, “For Mrs. Hopf to be recognized as the Herzog Bible Teacher of the Year is just one example of our amazing, excellent and godly faculty at SBS. She brings many gifts to our school, but her hunger for students to know and enjoy the word of God is unrivaled.” Our students are blessed to have Mrs. Hopf not only pouring into them but also modeling what it means to live as a godly, faithful woman in today’s world.

“Because I went to Second Baptist School,” said Mrs. Hopf, “I had the world’s best Bible teachers to learn from. Our school is special and encourages teachers to take risks, be creative and love students well.” She went on to describe her calling as a Bible teacher. “God designed me to love working with teenagers with a deep desire to point them to Him through His word. I am so grateful to be doing what I love, with people I love, in a place that I love.”

Mrs. Barrett concluded, “Loren is a lover of Jesus, a connector of people and a gifted teacher. Her impact on SBS is tangible and ongoing. We thank God for the many teachers like her who serve our community.”

Mrs. Hopf will be honored in September in Washington D.C. at the inaugural Excellence in Christian Education Awards gala at the Museum of the Bible. Congratulations Mrs. Hopf, and thank you for serving at SBS!
