Be Bold: See You At The Pole

Be Bold: See You At The Pole

At 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, with donuts and coffee in hand, the Second Baptist School community met in front of the rock fountain and began their morning with worship and prayer. The 24th, the fourth Wednesday of September, marked the date at which schools annually gather for the global event known as “See You at the Pole.” At Second Baptist School, students, faculty, staff, and families took part in this tradition, gathering together under the flagpoles as one body of Christ.

As voices singing songs of gratitude and thankfulness to the Lord filled the air, children and adults alike could reflect on God’s goodness and grace through worship led by Second Baptist Church worship leader, Brett Russell. Next, Second Baptist Church youth pastor, Zach Heaton, spoke about being bold and like a “city on a hill” as Jesus calls us to be in Matthew 5:14. Reflecting on Heaton’s words, junior Titus Brown said that his takeaway was that God calls us “to be a light so that others may see God, not us.”

Following the message, the attendees were asked to gather in small circles to pray as a community. Ministry Prefect Shia Francis ‘26 stated that his favorite part of the morning was this time of prayer. “It’s always refreshing to see people our age, older, and even younger call out to God and communicate with Him in such a manner.”

Each year, See You at the Pole is a wonderful opportunity and reminder of the gift that it is to gather together to worship the Lord. This year’s event was no exception, leaving the community of Second Baptist School filled with gratitude after a morning of worship and prayer!
