Alumni Returning Home: A Legacy That Spans Generations at Second Baptist School

At Second Baptist School, generations of families have woven a story that reaches far beyond the classroom. It is a legacy shaped by shared faith, enduring relationships and a commitment to equipping students who think critically, live biblically and lead courageously. One of the clearest signs of this lasting impact is the many alumni who have returned, this time as parents, employees and partners in the mission that shaped them.

Today, 21 alumni serve on faculty and staff across the SBS campus. As teachers, coaches and administrators, they now invest in students the same way their own mentors once invested in them, continuing a cycle of Christ-centered influence.

That legacy is also evident in our families. 110 current parents are SBS alumni, choosing the school that formed their own academic foundation and faith to guide their children’s growth. This year, 186 students, representing 15% of the student body, are children of alumni, a clear reflection of long-term trust in SBS’s mission and educational excellence.

As alumni families continue to grow, so does the next generation of Eagles. SBS celebrates 50 second-generation alumni, and six second-generation students from alumni families will graduate this year in the Class of 2026. Their connection to SBS reflects decades of shared values and relationships that extend well beyond commencement.

One statistic tells the story especially well: Nearly every graduating class from 1982 through 2012 is represented today by a current SBS parent or student. With only one exception, alumni from that 30-year span continue to have active family ties to Second Baptist School.

For many families, returning to SBS is both meaningful and deeply personal.

“Watching our son, Jack ‘40, begin his journey at SBS this year, where William once sat in those same classrooms, has been incredibly special,” shared Kristi and William McMichael ’11. “From his excitement each morning to seeing former classmates now dropping off their own children, SBS’s commitment to spiritual growth, a caring community and excellence continues to inspire families to return home. We cannot wait for our daughters to join him in the coming years.”

For alumni bringing their children to SBS, the feeling of coming home is a common one.

“It is special to watch Reese ‘39 learn and grow at Second Baptist School, just as we once did,” said Braeden and Nick Ramsey, both Class of 2010. “Second is such a special place and feels like home to us. We can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for Reese at this amazing school.”

Second Baptist School’s story continues to unfold, shaped by alumni who choose to return as parents, educators and leaders. Their presence is a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness and the lasting impact of a Christ-centered education, one generation at a time.
