“Adventure Awaits” at SBS’ Annual Book Fair

“Adventure Awaits” at SBS’ Annual Book Fair

Great adventures don’t always require hiking boots or passports. This year, our lower and middle school students discovered that the greatest adventures can be found within the pages of a good book! During this year’s book fair, themed “Adventure Awaits,” students had the opportunity to explore hundreds of books and choose new stories to call their own.

Upon entering the Book Fair, students were immediately immersed in an atmosphere of adventure. Thanks to the generous work of our parent volunteers, the space was transformed with camping gear, maps, national park posters and trees adorned with the title pages of beloved books, bringing the “Adventure Awaits” theme to life from floor to ceiling. While the decorations captured everyone’s attention, the real excitement came from exploring the wide variety of books on display. Lana Wallace, SBS lower school librarian, recalled, “Every student’s face lit up when they walked in and spotted all the books. They loved choosing their own books and discovering new stories that interested them.”

The Book Fair not only fosters a love of reading but also gives students a chance to share their excitement and interests with their families. From Dads and Donuts and Family Night to class visits throughout the week, parents and grandparents enjoyed plenty of opportunities to join in the fun and experience this one-of-a-kind book adventure.

“The Book Fair gives families a chance to share in their child’s excitement for reading,” said Lana. “Parents and grandparents can browse with their kids, talk about books they loved growing up and help their children choose stories that match their interests, all of which strengthens the connection between home and school learning.”

Our librarians are incredibly grateful for another successful year of helping our students grow in their love for reading. “This year’s Book Fair was a wonderful way to get students excited about learning all while bringing our community together, with parents, students and teachers all sharing in the joy of books,” said Lana. “We are thankful for everyone who participated in the Book Fair and helped play a vital role in supporting our SBS libraries.”
