A Season to Remember: Fall Sports Recap 2024
This fall, Second Baptist School Eagles soared to incredible heights across all athletic programs, reflecting the school’s commitment to excellence and community. From the court to the field, the course and the sidelines, our teams embodied resilience, determination and teamwork, making this a season to celebrate. Here’s a closer look at the remarkable accomplishments of our volleyball, football, cross country, cheer and Golden Girls teams.
Volleyball: Building a Legacy
This year, the SBS volleyball team, led by a dedicated group of seniors, laid a strong foundation for the future of the program. Finishing with a 5-5 district record, these student athletes showed grit and determination, earning their place in the playoffs. Their teamwork and perseverance throughout the season showcased the heart of SBS athletics—dedication, growth and a commitment to excellence.
Football: Strength in Every Play
Eagle football delivered a season full of excitement and achievement, energizing the SBS community. With an impressive 11-2 overall record and a 4-1 finish in district play, the team exemplified strength, heart and determination.
Under the leadership of Coach Beck Brydon, the Eagles rose to the challenge of aiming for the 14th game of the season, culminating in a State Runner-Up finish. The seniors’ leadership and dedication created a legacy that will inspire future teams to strive for greatness. What a season to remember!
Cross Country: Going the Distance
The cross country program celebrated a standout season with highlights that showcased personal and team achievements:
Soaring Eagle Invitational:
- Sara Griffin (9th) and Taylor Zimmerman (10th) led the way.
- Varsity Women’s Team: 3rd overall.
- Middle School Boys’ Team: 1st place!
District Championships:
At the District Meet hosted by The Woodlands Christian, every female runner and freshman Warren Osowski achieved personal records (PRs), with others recording their fastest times of the season.
- All-District Honorees: Sara Griffin ’26 (3rd) and Taylor Zimmerman ’27 (8th).

Cheer: Leading with Spirit
SBS cheerleaders brought unmatched energy and enthusiasm to every pep rally, volleyball and football game this fall. In addition to supporting our teams, the varsity gold team excelled in competition, earning an impressive 5th place finish.
NCA Camp Highlights:
- Varsity All-American: Alex Alpe ‘26, Quin Harder ‘26, Izzy Millard ‘25, Grace Kell ‘25, Gianna Fasanella ‘25, Presley Rodgers ‘28, Isabella Murray ‘25, Elizabeth Papa ‘28.
- Junior Varsity All-American: Aubrielle Bob ‘28 , Elizabeth Newhouse ‘27.

Golden Girls: Grace in Motion
