Eighth Grade Promotion

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
1 Timothy 4:12

“No more uniforms!” chants were shouted through the breezeway after the eighth graders recessed from the Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony. The day was full of joy, as students, parents and teachers celebrated the accomplishments of the Class of 2018.
The ceremony included special speaker, SBS alumni Chris Duncan ’09 who spoke on his time at SBS and the importance of being involved. He charged the eighth graders to live with integrity, and hold 1 Timothy 4:12 close to heart, saying “whatever you are being called to do, go after it.” Class of 2018 Student Council President Grace Gallagher reminisced on the fun memories from Middle School and encouraged her classmates to take whatever comes at them in stride and be willing to laugh when situations do not always work out the way they are planned.
The class of newly promoted students celebrated their success at the annual eighth grade dance that evening. There was a slideshow featuring student’s baby pictures and current pictures, as well as a video featuring some of their favorite Middle School faculty and staff  dancing to Pharrell Williams song, “Happy.”
What a day to celebrate the Class of 2018! Upper School is excited to have you!
