For more than 25 years, the Second Baptist School Interim Term program has provided students the opportunity to explore personal interests and expand their minds. During this two-week enrichment period in March, students take a variety of on and off-campus courses, can travel both domestically and internationally and seniors can participate in the internship program. Not only is Interim Term a time devoted to personal and academic growth, but it also is a time for the students to serve in their community and abroad.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors have the opportunity to travel as an exciting dimension of the Interim Term curriculum. Previous trips have included: Greece, Germany, Honduras, Paris, China, Italy, British Isles, Russia and Galapagos. Domestic travel has included New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Hawaii, West Texas, Colorado, and college tours of the northeast, Southeastern Conference, California, and the always popular, Texas College Tour.
Students staying in Houston have a wide variety of on and off campus courses to choose from. They can volunteer with organizations including Meals on Wheels, Yellowstone Academy, Texas Children's Hospital, Buffalo Bayou and Faith Center. They can get a head start on their summer job through the Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course. Students explore the wide variety of fine arts in Houston during "The Stars Come Out at Night", or create new products during the entrepreneurial course "Fish in a Shark Tank." Students can choose from 40 courses including robotics, calligraphy, mobile photography, Jane Austen, self defense, wildlife safari, food critic, SAT prep and much more. The opportunities are endless!
Whether staying in town or traveling overseas, Interim Term truly has something to offer every student!
