Middle School

The Middle School provides a remarkable combination of a Christ-centered focus and a rigorous academic curriculum. The highly qualified faculty clearly understands the various developmental levels of middle school students and works effectively to meet each child at his or her readiness level. All students are challenged through core classes that include mathematics, science, social studies, English and Bible. All humanities classes for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students are centered around the Harkness Method of learning where teachers facilitate student-led discussions in a setting conducive to engaging conversation and in-depth analysis. The Harkness Method enables students to develop critical thinking skills, a deep understanding of content, clear communicative skills, and authentic scholarship. Second Baptist School provides state of the art MacBook Air laptops for all Middle School students to use inside and outside of school for research, collaboration, and creation. We are one of two Apple Distinguished schools in Texas and continue to be a leader in innovative independent schools. It is our pleasure and honor to partner with Middle School families in providing the very best Christian education.
