 | Grade 5 Second Baptist Middle School begins with Grade 5. Our 5th graders attend eight (8) classes a day on a rotating schedule that allows them to attend each class with different classmates. One of the following four electives is taken each nine weeks: Music Appreciation, Art 2D, Study Skills, and Keyboarding. A highlight for the 5th grade is the class day-trip to Pine Cove. |

 Grade 6 Second Baptist School 6th graders attend eight (8) classes each day and begin their day with Physical Education in the E Gym. Students may choose from a variety of electives that provide in depth exposure to visual and performing arts, Spanish, study skills and technology. One of the highlights of the 6th grade year is the annual service project at the Salvation Army. |

 Grade 7 Second Baptist School 7th graders attend eight (8) classes per day. Two highlights of the 7th grade year include participation in school sponsored athletics and the annual Middle School Musical production. Students may choose from a variety of athletic programs and may particpate on Fall, Winter and Spring teams. The 7th grade class travels to Austin to visit the Capitol as a part of their Texas History curriculum. |

 Grade 8 Second Baptist School 8th graders attend eight (8) classes per day, and have course selections that include classes for high school credit including Algebra I, Technology, Spanish and Speech Communications. Participation in athletics and the Middle School musical continue to be highlights of the 8th grade year. The study of American History culminates with the annual class trip to Washington, DC. Graduation ceremonies are held each May as the students rise to SBS Upper School 9th graders! |

Step 1 - Online Inquiry and Application for AdmissionPlease complete the Online Inquiry first. After the Online Inquiry is complete, please print the Middle School Application for Admissions (top right). Detailed instructions are included in the application, as well as the required forms needed to complete the application. The Priority Application Deadline is Friday, January 20, 2012. |

 Step 2 - AcademicsTranscripts for the current year and two previous years are required for all applicants. Teacher Recommendations are also required for all applicants. Applicants for 5th Grade are required one Teacher Recommendation from their homeroom teacher. Applicants for Grades 6-8 are required two Teacher Recommendations - one from their English teacher and one from their Math teacher. Please submit these requests to your student's current school after December 1, 2011. The forms are included in the Middle School Application for Admission. They are due to the SBS Office of Admissions by January 15, 2012. |

 Step 3 - Testing - Independent School Entrance Exam - ISEEAll Middle School applicants to Second Baptist School are required to take the ISEE. The Middle School Application for Admission provides specific details for scheduling the exam. |

 Step 4 - InterivewInterviews will be conducted for all Middle School applicants and their parents. Applicants with completed files may register for their interview through the Candidate Portal (login required). Sixth grade applicant interviews will be on Tuesday, February 7. Interviews for applicants for fifth, seventh and eighth grades will be on Thursday, February 9.

Visiting the Middle School Open House
Second Baptist Middle School hosts an Open House for prospective families interested in applying for Grades 5-8. This year, the event will take place on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. at Woodway Village. There will be a reception, program and tour.  Preview Day Middle School Preview Day is for applicants who are invited to SBS. Students will tour the Middle School and meet current students, faculty and staff. Preview Day is Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 8 a.m.

Applying After the Deadline Middle School Guidelines Applications will be accepted after the Priority Application Deadline only for grades with availability. Summer applicants may not be interviewed until August. Exceptions for out of town applicants will be made on a case by case basis. |
