Allowing students to step outside the academic curriculum, Interim Term provides students opportunities to explore personal interests and expand their minds. SBS will continue to offer a variety of courses both on and off-campus as well as several domestic and international travel opportunities. A three day portion of this term, Second Serving, is about serving Christ through serving others.
Second Serving:
- mobilizes the upper school student body and faculty into the Houston community
- promotes volunteer opportunities for our students through off-campus experiences
- shows our students they can affect the world in which they live
Travel will continue as an exciting dimension of the Interim Term curriculum, and this year’s destinations are outstanding. Along with an East Coast College tour, Texas College* tour, a photography trip to Colorado, and a service trip to Arizona, we are offering international travel to Honduras, Russia, Spain and China. A brief description of these trips along with the costs, deposit amounts and important dates can be found on the Passport to Adventure link above.
Online registration for the trips will begin for seniors August 24 at 7 p.m. Junior online registration opens August 25 at 8:30 p.m. (because of Open House), and sophomore registration opens August 29 at 7:00 p.m. Priority for Interim Term trip registration is based on seniority until the following class is allowed to register. Senior priority ends at 8:30 p.m. on August 26 and junior priority ends at 7 p.m. on August 29. In the interest of student safety, we are unable to make special arrangements for students to travel alone in order to meet a trip or leave early. We are also unable to accommodate students wishing to use mileage for airfare.

*Limited scholarship money is available for the Texas College Tour trip. Students may pick up an application in the Upper School Office. Deadline for scholarship applications is September 10. |
