 | What is the Distinguished Speaker Luncheon?
Second Baptist School held the Sixth Annual Distinguished Speaker Luncheon on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Hilton Americas in Downtown Houston. Over the last six years this has been a powerful, inspirational and affirming event for the Second Baptist School community.

The money raised at the annual Distinguished Speaker Luncheon held in the fall goes directly to pay for a Christmas bonus for our faculty, as well as salary increases in the upcoming year. |
Distinguished Speaker Information Our featured speaker this year is Dr. Benjamin Carson, whose compelling story was made into a movie, Gifted Hands, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. His accomplishments include:
- Serving as Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for over 25 years
- Performing the first successful surgery to separate Siamese twins joined at the back of the head
- Being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush in 2008
